These containers offer a unique method of preserving ”solid“ forms of physical evidence including arson investigation evidence. Solids are collected and placed in cans. Once the lid is put in place, an airtight seal is formed preventing flammables and hydrocarbons from evaporating into the atmosphere. When the containers are delivered to the lab, they are heated and air samples are drawn off through the rubber septum contained in the lid.
